What to Expect

Thanks for checking us out!  We'd love to meet you in person.  If you're thinking about joining us on a Sunday morning for our worship service, here are some things you can expect:

You can expect that we'll welcome you.  We don't want to make you feel uncomfortable, but we'd like to get to know you.  That's why we ask everyone (whether you're a guest or not) to fill out a connection card during the service.  Don't worry, we don't sell your information.  We just like to be able to contact you to thank you for joining us, to find out how you're doing, and to let you know about things that are happening.

You can expect that an offering will be taken.  If you're a guest, please don't feel in any way obligated to give money - just put in the connection card instead.  The offering is an opportunity for those who believe in the mission of Timberline to support the church and its ministries.  We believe that giving a part of what God has given us is a way to honor and serve God.

You can expect us to sing songs about God.  One of the many ways to worship God is to sing.  It is a way to express our love for Him and remind us of His character, His love for us, and our relationship with Him.

You can expect us to take communion regularly.  Communion is a way to remember that Jesus Christ died for our sins.  When we eat the bread and drink the grape juice, we are reminded of Christ's broken body and His blood that was shed for us on the cross.  The Bible is clear that if a person hasn't placed their faith in Jesus, or if he or she has an outstanding issue with someone that hasn't been resolved, it is better not to take part in communion.

You can expect a sermon.  We believe the Bible is the Word of God, and so we want to know it so we can know God (and ourselves) better.  This is a time for us to look deeply into Scripture to figure out what it means and how it applies to our lives.  During the sermon, on most weeks, we have Children's Church for kids age 4 through 6th grade.

You can expect people to be dressed differently - some people dress up, and some dress very casually.  Dress how you're comfortable.

We hope that detailing out some expectations will help you feel even more welcome.  We hope to see you soon.
